Print Portal – all your print managed online
Our browser-based Print Portal is a comprehensive print management system developed and supported by CDS used to manage all our work covering thousands of print jobs and supporting hundreds of users across our diverse client base.
The system is available anytime via a secure login with access via an internet browser. Access via unique username and password allows clients with the appropriate access to see exactly what the CDS Managers see across the entire process, underpinning our partnership approach.
Print Portal provides a robust, secure and user friendly means of communicating with CDS, capturing the end-to-end process from request for quotation right through the process to the delivery of each piece of work and user feedback via an on-line questionnaire.
The system provides a full audit trail and detailed management information (reports) and the ability to drill down to each aspect of an individual job or complex campaign.
The Print Portal System is a target-driven reporting system, which forms the project-management backbone of every product we work on. It is customised to meet the specific needs of the customer.
The system records the details of every project, noting key dates and deliverables against which jobs are managed, allowing CDS to plan effectively, plan production and assign resources.

CDS Print Portal controls and currently manages over 70 client accounts, primarily public sector organisations, including Central and Local Government, Executive Agencies, NHS, social housing providers and universities.
Digital Asset Management – All your artwork in one place
Our Digital Asset Management system, CDS Digital, provides you with a single repository to manage all your approved imagery and version controlled publications for later use. This ensures your imagery is always available, up-to-date and compliant.
This powerful tool is browser-based and accessible via computer, tablet or smartphone. The login screen can also be customised to reflect your corporate branding requirements. Unique username and password establishes individual user profiles, allowing access to a selected few; certain assets to certain users, read only access; or downloadable in various formats.
CDS Digital is a fully catalogued and searchable repository for all types of media including logos, photographs, images, brand guidelines, video, audio files and complete documents. Each asset is governed by a profile and detailed metadata and can be grouped into different categories. The system maintains version control to eliminate the risk of publication errors.
Summary management information is available to report on system and user activity.
CDS Digital is hosted and supported by CDS within a robust IT infrastructure. CDS is certified to ISO 27001 Information Security Management System and registered under the Data Protection Act.
Template Central (Web2Print) – Design, print, repeat
For clients with regular corporate publications, Template Central reduces the costs associated with repeat design work through self-service templates. These online templates provide effective brand control and promote efficiency by allowing remote users to create customised artwork with centralised approval via workflow.
Template Central is a powerful tool which is flexible enough to provide a wide range of repeat publications from a business card through to a multi-page newsletter including text, images and graphics.
This powerful tool is browser-based and accessible via computer, tablet or smartphone. The login screen can also be customised to reflect your corporate branding requirements. Unique username and password establishes individual user profiles, allowing access to either all; a selection of templates and associated imagery.
During input, a screen proof is created which supports collaboration, saving time before committing to order. Once the artwork is complete, a series of pre-configured options calculates the cost and guides the user through the basket and checkout stages to place their order.
The system can create both web-optimised PDF for electronic distribution and high resolution print-ready artwork with output directed to our high volume digital print unit for quick turnaround.
Products and clients
Transport for London (TfL) – Print Portal
TfL provides over 2 billion passenger journeys per annum to the nation’s capital. Print Portal is used to manage the extensive print requirements for TfL – covering both operational and marketing print. TfL’s print requirements are very diverse from operational critical duty books and timetables through to posters for the Underground, tube maps, graphic installations and even special edition Boris bikes.
Borough of Poole – Digital Asset Management
CDS provides print and design management services to the Borough of Poole, including the management of creative services provided by local design agencies. Digital Asset Management provides the council with a central repository for all design work for subsequent reuse.
Home Group – Template Central
CDS implemented our Web2Print solution for Home Group, branded as “Template Junction”; allowing users with limited design expertise to create standardised publications, such as leaflets, posters, invitations and newsletters. These products were then passed via our electronic workflow management system to the Home Group Communications Team for approval.
This solution significantly reduced costs and effort for repetitive design work. In the first 18 months of operation Home Group produced approximately 400 jobs saving £48,000 in design and print costs.
